Well, I guess I'm going to talk about my job as nail technician. I try to do the best possible job I can possibily do. I give my customers the best nail care they can receive with complete sanitation. Yet still people nit pick about everything.
Well I would like to nit pick myself. First I think people who are late and still expect to be taken are crazy. If you are going to be more than 15 minutes late you need to re-schedule. Why should my next client who is on time be made to wait when you are late. If I do take you when you are late you should make sure that you leave a tip.
While we are on the subject of sanitation, lets talk about that. I have been doing nails for over 20 years and tis is the one subject that needs to be paid more attention to by both the consumer and the nail industry. If your nail salon or nail tech is not following standard health practices CHANGE SALONS AND NAIL TECHS! PERIOD. No amount of money saved is worth an infection. Know the difference between a dry foot and one that has athletes foot on it. If you have dry skin that never gets better no matter how much lotion you put on it, you probably have athletes foot. Athletes foot hides in carpet and your shower floor and your bathroom floor. Beware when you go to a hotel . Always wear footware, slippers or thongs. Yes even in the shower. Believe it or not more women have athletes foot than men.
When you have a pedicure ask how they clean the pedicure thrones. Not just the tub, but also the pipes. A throne should be cleaned after EVERY CLIENT, with bleach and cascade. The outside should be cleaned with a disinfectant. All metal tools should be cleaned with hot soapy water and submerged in hospital grade disinfectant for 10 minutes.
